It seems the trend towards 3D animated movies presents a very nonchalant theme of the evil twin trope. The simplicity of execution is noted by storytellers as an easy way to move the plot around, as evidenced by these two 3D animated movies that share a basic storyline that can be enjoyed by the general public. But much has to be reviewed in Despicable Me 2 and Smurfs 2, and I’m here your resident 3D animated movie junkie to review our weekly matchups.

Since Dreamwork’s 3D animated movie Turbo speeded to the top three on its first week, it’s a worthy rival against Pixar’s front-runner.

No we’re not judging who’s the cutest, nor are we reviewing the 3D aspects of these top-grossing 3D animated movies, much less analyzing how they outranked Star Trek and Man of Steel (yes 3D artists, we have a future). Here’s a review of the movies’ respective earnings as of July 1:
